Lake Park Campground and Cottages is located on the west edge of Rapid city, by Canyon Lake, just off hwy 44. We are very centrally located to the entire Black Hills area. We are 30 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and many popular attractions are within 10 to 20 minutes making us the perfect Black Hills base camp.
There is a little something for everyone here at Lake Park Campground and Cottages. Feel like a bike ride or a hike? The paved bike path goes around the lake and along Rapid Creek for approximately 7 miles. Bike rentals across the lake or from one of the bike shops in town. For the fisherman, Rapid Creek and Canyon Lake offer excellent trout fishing. This may be the time to try your hand at fly fishing. If the kids don't have the patience for fishing they can always go wading in the creek or rent a paddle boat for a little boating fun…don't worry, motorized boats are not allowed on Canyon Lake. If a little more formal swimming is your desire, the recently built Sioux Park swimming facility is just a couple miles down the bike path, as well as tennis and racquetball courts. For the golfer, Meadowbrook Golf Course is less than a mile away and offers 18 holes of play, a pro shop and dining. When evening comes and you don't feel up to cooking for the gang, our staff will give you their favorite recommendations for unique dining experiences. We are only four miles from downtown Rapid City.
Family gatherings work well here. Our web site posts pictures of covered picnic pavilions available across the lake in Canyon Lake Park so that your large group gathering can go on regardless of the weather.
We are very unique in that we are sheltered by mature shade trees. All guests are provided with 24 hour wireless internet, 24 hour laundry facility and clean, hot showers at no charge. All sites are equipped with cable hook-ups and have phone hook-ups for longer term campers. Since we are in the Black Hills and within the City limits, campfires are not allowed, however feel free to use grills.
COTTAGES,VACATION HOME AND CABINS are set up with mainly queen size beds (a few smaller rooms have full beds) a sofa sleeper in the living room and they all have their own bathrooms (showers only) a couple have tub/shower combos, all towels and linens are provided. Our cottages are simple, but comfortable. Each cottage is tastefully decorated primarily in lodge décor. There are no phones in the cottages, however, we do have good cell phone service. You can enjoy cable TV, wireless internet and window air conditioning. The kitchens are furnished with basic cooking and eating utensils , a gas grill and picnic table at each. SOME of our cottages have fire places and covered carport. They are all smoke and pet free. A two story VACATION HOME is available for those with a large group or needing that 'reunion headquarters'. Full size kitchen, two full living rooms, dining rooms, four bedrooms, three full Bathrooms, and will sleep 12 to 16 (7 beds and 2 sofa sleepers) it also has two decks, and a large garage for inside gatherings. Click on the Deer Glen Vacation Lodge for more details. In order to keep our rates as low as possible, no daily housekeeping is provided. We offer a fresh towel exchange daily, and will be happy to do touch-up housekeeping upon request.
RV and Tent Sites. Our RV sites offer full hookups including water, electric 20, 30, and 50 amp service, sewer, cable TV, wireless internet, and phone service for those longer term campers. Our clean restrooms are open 24hrs a day and offer free hot showers. The laundromat is onsite and open 24 hrs as well.
